Morning: keep the basics easy

Cleanse gently and use a moisturiser that suits your skin. For sun protection in Australia, Cancer Council recommends SPF50 or SPF50+, broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen when UV reaches 3 or more. Follow the label's application and reapplication instructions. Include shade, clothing, a hat and sunglasses; sunscreen is one part of the routine.

Evening: a fresh start before bed

Remove makeup and cleanse gently with lukewarm water, then moisturise for comfort. You do not need to scrub to prove your face is clean. If you have been sweating heavily, wash gently afterwards too. Follow any prescribed treatment plan instead of rearranging it to match a general beauty routine.

For younger skin, keep it short

Teens usually need cleanser, moisturiser and sun protection. Extra serums, scrubs and adult anti-ageing products are not routine essentials. If acne hurts, affects confidence or keeps coming back, speak with a pharmacist or GP. There is nothing wrong with asking for help, and real skin does not have to look filtered.
